Neurological rehabilitation is a young, promising field of application for photobiological therapy and is intensively researched worldwide. The focus is on traumatic and chronic brain damage, degenerative brain diseases, traumatic injuries and chronic damage to the peripheral nervous system, as well as psychiatric diseases. Laser light demonstrably penetrates through the bony skull and can initiate processes of regeneration and recalibration in the various brain areas.
Today, the term photo-biomodulation is used internationally for all procedures used in medicine that can influence the homeostasis of cell metabolism with light. Laser phototherapy is the most effective method. The equipment needed for laser phototherapy is simple and safe, and learning the various possible applications and procedures is uncomplicated. There is hardly a method that can be so quickly integrated into the practice routine and is so universally applicable.
